Job Description:

This rapidly expanding Global Metals/Manufacturing/Mining/Logistics Conglomerate is looking for a German Group Managing Director. This role manages six German and Austrian headquartered businesses and forms the largest portion of the €4Billion Global Group. It also provides wider guidance to the Global Group and is pivotal to the Group’s success.

This is a key role that supports the objectives of the Global organisation providing an EU HQ to the Global HQ in the US. The role reports directly to the US based Global C0O and oversees approximately 1000 staff and the integration of further owned business and acquisitions. The responsibilities of this role will grow.

This is an exciting period of rapid growth for them and you will develop and implement strategies with a focus on transformation to a data-driven and service-oriented organization. The Managing Director should be able to adopt and optimize the organizational structure and work processes and ensure these are well suited to growth. You must set priorities for the operative management and activities and ensure best practice risk management and compliance function as appropriate for the size and business models as your business grows. You will supervise the company’s finances to ensure profitability, liquidity and the annual balance sheets. You will monitor the company’s continuous success and Health & Safety and Environmental standards and guidelines. You will engage the leadership team and staff on a goal-oriented, modern and cooperative leadership and work culture within a matrix organization.

The Person:
Detailed knowledge and experience with operational business, preferably in the heavy metal industry
Strong leadership skills, structured thinking and solid analytical skills as well as strong and convincing communication skills
Shows strong passion for the business
Persuasiveness, negotiation skills and assertiveness along with diplomatic flair
Experienced at building relationships in a national and international environment
Embrace change and the continuous improvement methodology
Highly self-motivated, pro-active and structured personality with push and drive, accompanied with a combination of strategic overview, operational approach and problem-solving skills

The role:
Liaise with stakeholders on a national and international level, especially with the US holding company.
Legal responsibility for profit and loss and control with regard to the profitability of the business
Oversee all operations and business activities to ensure the results are consistent with the overall strategy mission and vision
Development and implementation of short, medium and long-term targets for the company
Promote safety, quality, leanness, sustainability and innovation
Support the harmonization and shaping of corporate structure and the responsibilities to the employees
Ensure successful implementation of approved investments (e.g. capital goods, buildings, IT etc.)
Be a high-profile Ambassador of the company
Creation of internal and external monthly or quarterly reports
Present the annual financial statements and balance sheets
Participation in budget planning and collaboration with the finance department
High-profile Customer support in collaboration with the commercial department
Constructive cooperation with the local works councils
