Job Description:

This a rare opportunity to join a Global leader in the metals and mining industry as their UK HSE Manager. You would be responsible for overseeing all aspects of developing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving effective management systems and processes for the UK Business Entities. The UK HSE Manager will liaise with external parties including national and governmental organisations, trade associations and other bodies as appropriate for all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental factors for the business. The UK division is headquartered in Midlands and consists of three operating companies throughout the UK.

Your responsibility will be to ensure the integrity of each business entity’s management systems and compliance with legal and other requirements for health, safety, environment, energy, including applicable regulations, permits, licences, and registration to ISO 45001:2018 health and safety management standard, BS EN ISO 9001:2015 quality management standard, BS EN ISO 14001:2015 environmental management standard and BS EN ISO 50001:2018 energy management standard.

The UK HSE Manager reports to the UK Managing Director and to the CSO located in the US.

Your responsibilities and duties will include:

• Liaison with UK Business entities to ensure they understand and have effectively managed the needs and expectations of workers and interested parties.

• Awareness of impending changes to standards and legal and other requirements and the potential impact on the UK business entities and communicating the potential impact to the relevant management teams.

• Developing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving effective management systems for the UK business entities and processes including the System, policies and operating procedures.

• Reviewing applicable legal and other requirements and ensuring that the UK business entities activities conform in terms of issues of compliance and the health, safety, environmental and quality aspects and impacts of operational activities.

• Reviewing performance against targets and KPI’s, including underlying trends, exceptional performance and continual improvement, and communicating this to the respective UK business entity management team members and Dallas Homeroom.

• Ensuring that the company’s processes and systems are audited for compliance, with respect to the requirements of health and safety, environmental and energy management.

• Ensure effective liaison with external auditors and assessors, including those of the shareholder and those of BSI.

• Ensuring the effective closeout of required corrective and preventive actions resulting from incidents and complaints, internal and external audits and assessments, including those of the shareholder and those of BSI.

• Briefing, instructing, informing and advising people on all suitable subjects to keep them fully informed of relevant matters.

• Reviewing health and safety, environmental and energy performance and recommending appropriate action where necessary.

• Assisting and supporting continual improvement by others in processes, work methods, organisational structure etc.

• Identifying and helping to share best practice across UK business entities functions.

• Ensuring the development and improvement of policies, procedures and standards, and helping to keep these up-to-date and relevant.

• Assisting in the development and training of people to maintain a high standard throughout the UK business entities.

• Assisting in the development of budgets for annual performance in line with business requirements and continual improvement in health & safety, environmental and energy and other areas as appropriate, and assisting in the development of appropriate measures for achieving and exceeding budgets.
